Winter weather can be seriously detrimental to your otherwise well-protected skin, causing dryness, dullness, and chapping, because you may be using the products that cannot withstand the changes in the weather. As you frantically shop for new winter clothes, you should consider tweaking your winter skin care regimen so your skin doesn’t suffer. What are my 5 must-have beauty tips to look like a winter wonderland goddess?

1. Say NO to harsh soaps and scrubs!
Don’t strip your skin of the natural oils it uses to protect itself from the harsh winter cold by using irritating bar soaps or strong cleansers that contain ingredients like salicylic acid, glycolic acid, and sulfur. Instead, opt for a natural and organic cream cleanser that infuses your skin with the moisture it loses during the day. My go- to winter cleanser is Purity made Simple One- Step Facial Cleanser ($20.00). This milky cleanser will take off every inch of make up and leave your skin feeling soft and renewed. This cleanser contain amazing active ingredients like chamomile and sage and is compatible with all skin types; what more could a girl want?

2. Say YES to sunscreen!
The winter sun can have a greater damaging effect on your skin than the summer sun because of its invisible properties. Use a strong sunscreen to give your skin a layer of protection from winter harshness. A great sunscreen that goes under any makeup flawlessly is MAC Prep and prime SPF 50 ($26.50). You only need to use a VERY small amount and wait a few minutes before applying makeup. This little magic bottle actually makes your makeup go on smoother and stay on longer!

3. Say YES to face masks!
Pamper yourself with an invigorating face mask once a week to combat the effects of the weather. My ultimate favorite splurge is Rose Face Mask by Fresh ($55.00). This is a mega- hydrating gel made out real rose petals that smells heavenly and contains anti-inflammatory properties. If the price tag is too hefty for you, a similar alternative is the Instant Moisture Mask by Sephora ($15.00). This awesome product comes with four instant face packets and a shaker. To apply, you simply pour the packet into the shaker, add water, and shake! This productworks wonders on balancing dry, damaged skin.

4. Say YES to body butter!
Winter weather and clothes can make skin dry and ashy. Use a thick cream that contains invigorating ingredients but will not clog up your skin. My winter body cream is Caswell- Massey Almond and Aloe Body Balm ($20.00). The natural and minty mix of this rich cream leaves your body feeling refreshed and tingly, but does not feel greasy on the skinlike other heavy creams.

5. Say NO to chapped lips!
Because the sun’s rays are still present during the winter, as I mentioned before, it is important to protect your lips before any exposure or they can get easily dry and chapped. The best lip aid I’ve ever used for already cracked or chapped lips is Aquaphor Healing Ointment by Eucerin ($10.00). This stuff has a pretty strong smell but it will take dry and chapped lips to soft and moisturized overnight! For pre- exposure protection for lips, definitely try Soft-lips Beeswax Lip Conditioner ($2.00). This super affordable lip protector is my holy grail of lip balms for the winter because it gives such good protection. It comes in two uber-refreshing flavors: Lemon Honey and Cool Mint.
