One of the most important events leading up to the wedding is the bridal shower. This even honors the bride and allows the guests to shower her with gifts. It’s a timeless and classic tradition, and one that makes every bride feel special. It’s important to plan this out so that you come up with a bridal shower that’s perfect for the bride-to-be.

One of the things to consider is of course the guest list. This may force you to pick a certain venue over another, and may allow you to get a better idea on cost and other factors. You can go with a more traditional twist or come up with something unique and truly special. No matter what you go with, a bridal shower is an excellent way to get together for a wonderful celebration.

To Go Out or To Stay at Home

Though the trend has become more focused on going out for a bridal shower, it can be fabulous to have it at home. If you are planning on having a rather large group, then you may have no choice but to go to a local restaurant or hall. The nice part about this is that all of the work is done for you, but you may expect to pay a bit more.

If you have a reasonable number of guests invited, then you can plan a bridal shower at home. This can still be very creative and intimate so that everyone has an opportunity to talk to each other.

You can go for a simple wedding theme as that always serves you well for a bridal shower. You can find plenty of decorations such as wedding bells and cut outs of bride and grooms to decorate the venue with. You can also go for a specific theme if it’s fitting to their wedding. Go for an island theme if they are having the wedding in a tropical destination. Go for a nautical theme if that’s an interest of the bride and is associated with their wedding. When all else fails, just go for a pretty color scheme that falls in line with the bride’s taste.

Food’s Important Role

If you are having the bridal shower at home, then by all means whip up something simple and delicious. Consider having a huge salad bar type of lunch with lettuce, tons of chopped up veggies, cheese, turkey and ham, and all the fixings. This is always a hit with the ladies and of course easy on you as the host to put together. You can also serve up something simple such as chicken salad on croissants or even a hearty soup in a bread bowl.

If you want to try your hand at something simple and homemade, then go for a simple, delicious and light pasta dish such as this one:

Pasta Primavera with Chicken

  • Angel Hair Pasta (figure about a pound per four women)
  • Sautéed Chicken Breast, Chopped
  • Sautéed Broccoli, Pea Pods, Carrots, and Red Peppers

Toss cooked chicken and vegetables in a simple olive oil, fresh tomato, fresh basil, and garlic sauce, then add pasta after cooked and drained. Toss with plenty of fresh parmesan cheese and serve warm.

Games and Activities

The format or theme of the event can go a million different ways. You can go for a traditional bridal shower and incorporate a couple of games such as asking questions of the guests and awarding prizes to those who know the most about the couple. You can go another route and host a ladies tea or garden party that is much more focused on a casual elegance than on a theme itself. There’s no right or wrong, it’s just important to remember what pertains to the guest of honor more appropriately.

If they are into games, then be sure to incorporate favorites such as each guest writing down words of wisdom and then making the bride guess who said it. If they aren’t into games or don’t enjoy being in the spotlight, then go for a more relaxed approach.

Everything should be fitting of the type of event from the invitations to the favors and of course the decorations. So long as you keep with the bride’s wishes, you are sure to plan an amazing bridal shower and create the perfect reason to celebrate.
